"Ross wanted to be in the squad against Derby County, but a scan showed he wasn't ready," said Dave Jones. "But when we saw him in training banging balls around and sprinting it was clear he was ready for Watford.
"My intention was to give him a couple of minutes if we were winning and it was good to get him back out there. He had the biggest smile on his face.
"Next it's Kevin McNaughton and Warren Feeney."
City are planning a reserve match on Tuesday to give McCormack, McNaughton and Feeney a run out.
