Match officials for Stoke v Cardiff

It's quite incredible that Anthony Leake of Lancashire is the referee this weekend.

The last time he referee'd a Cardiff City game was

Stoke City v Cardiff City in the play off semi final 1st leg in 2002. (Cardiff won 2 - 1)

As if that wasn't spooky enough the time before that was

Stoke City v Cardiff City earlier that season in the league (1 - 1 draw).

The first time he took control of a match involving Cardiff City was in February 1998 in a 3 - 3 draw at Scunthorpe.

This season Leake has officiated 16 games issuing 40 yellow cards and 4 red. Two of the reds coming last weekend as Darlington drew with Scunthorpe. Both men off were from Darlo.

The assistants on Saturday are Glenn Aston and Alan Sheffield both of the West Midlands.
