Malky Mackay has been sacked by Vincent Tan.
There was only ever going to be one winner of the battle between the owner and the manager and the defeat against Southampton yesterday was the final straw.
The toxic atmosphere between the fans, the owner and the manager has come to a head and Tan has acted.
Immediately Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is odds on favourite with claims that he has already had contact with Cardiff City.
Malky has done a superb job leading Cardiff to a Wembley final, promotion as Champions of the Championship and to being a preofessional club in the Premier Legaue but battling against the eccentricities of the owner Malky was facing a losing battle.
Cardiff, with Tan's money and Malky's motivation should be enjoying the the Premier League and it should be the best time in the our lifetimes as supporters.
There can be no denying that the of field fiasco has had an effect on the pitch and Malky's job has been made imossible against the back drop of suspicion and mis-trust.
No one expected Cardiff to be challenging for Europe but just surviving the first season. I wonder if the owner, seeing teams like Palace improving with a new manager, thinks that Cardiff's only way of survival is under a new coach.
I'm saddeded to see Malky sacked and would like to thank him for his contribution to Cardiff City and I don't think it will be long before he is back in anaother job.
I hope Malky also realises that he had almost unanimous backing of the fans who would have preferred to see a new owner rather that a new manager.
