'Our aim next season must be to make it into the play-offs,' said Loovens.
'That would represent genuine progress - and is within our reach.
'Dave Jones is a manager capable of putting together a squad who can make the play-offs at least and get up to the Premiership.
'That would be a dream for me.
'I came to Cardiff City for regular first team football and I have loved my time here.
'When I first talked to the manager he hadn't seen me play, but he put his faith in me and I won a place in the starting line-up.
'That has completed the first part of my ambition with Cardiff.
'I always wanted to stay and help Cardiff take the next step.
'When they made me an offer my only thought was to sign on and stay in Wales.'
