It looks as if Mark Hudson wil not play again this season. City's skipper is set to have treatment on his ankle after injuring ligaments against Leicester earlier this month.
Malky Mackay said: "I will never say no to anything, but Mark will probably not play again this season.
"It's a blow for the player, he's been a top performer for us and, as our captain, Mark is one of our leaders.
"But he's still here, in the dressing room to help out, even though he won't be playing."
It's a blow for the Bluebirds with Hudson a conteder for player of the season. Hopefully the side, with Ben Turner fit again, Leon Barnett on loan and Ben Nugent in support, will be able to cope with Hudson's loss and still get promoted in the next few weeks.
Barnett's loan is due to end in mid April but it must be a priortity now to extend it to the end of the season.
In better news Jordon Mutch is available for selection after a frustrating season.
“Jordon is in full training and ready to go,” says Malky Mackay.
It’s possible Mutch may need a minor operation in the summer, but no decision will be made until the end of this season.
“It may be a different treatment, but right now Jordon is fit, in full training, ready to play when needed and will be involved.”
