Ok, 'back by popular demand' is a conceit but it's back anyway so deal with it. A surprisingly quiet January followed by no senior players going out yesterday leaves us with only nine players on loan for now and that's assuming that Deji Oshilaja's move to Gillingham has gone through. Even with those nine away and with Tamas, Revell and Mason going, we're still left with 30 players at the club who have played first team football somewhere this season. As Lex Immers became only the 21st player to start a league game for us this season on Saturday, it's safe to assume that there are going to be a lot of players treading water here till the end of the season if loan moves aren't forthcoming.
Matty Kennedy got his loan spell at Port Vale off to a good start last week with an excellent performance in a 2-1 win at Doncaster but he took a knock at Wigan on Saturday and was brought off early when a red card forced a reshuffle. Semi Ajayi has turned in some good performances for Crewe recently as three draws in a row have taken them off the bottom of the League 1 table. Hopefully it's a sign that he is finding the concentration and consistency that he needs to go with his undoubted ability.
Tom Adeyemi came on as a very late sub for Leeds in their FA Cup win at Bolton as his rollercoaster season there continues. No action for the clubs of Joe Lewis, Adam le Fondre or Eoin Doyle (who has started the last five games for Preston) but Kenwyne Jones played in a 2-1 defeat for Al Jazira in China or wherever he is (he couldn't be bothered running when he was here, I can't be bothered checking now). Filip Kiss is in pre-season training with Haugesund in Norway and Etien Velikonja scored the only goal as Lierse won at Dessel Sport. 15 goals in 18 games for him now.
Two of our former players also scored in 1-0 wins this weekend, Wilfried Zaha for Palace and Danny Johnson for Gateshead. Good to see KTC back in action for St Etienne, encouraging news on Mats Moller Daehli too, he's back training with Freiburg after a knee operation. Fingers crossed (not you Mats, you'll probably break them).
