It was very much a loan spell of two halves, or two semis even (thank you, I'm here all week). Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley said "Semi was outstanding in his first couple of games for us, I do not think he quite got over the concussion and broken nose he suffered at Oxford. In his next two games he looked a bit uneasy with his heading and stuff. He has gone back to Cardiff to hopefully get that right." Josh Yorwerth, who City released as they signed Ajayi, has had his loan at Crawley extended till December 29th.
Ben Wilson remains at Wimbledon for now and kept a clean sheet yesterday in 2-0 home win as they move towards the play-off positions. Barnsley continue to move the other way in League 1 but Kadeem Harris missed their latest defeat with a shin injury. Deji Oshilaja is due back this week after his knee injury at Gillingham. A change of manager at York this week but David Tutonda remains on the bench for now.
York now slip behind Newport in League 2 as Jazzi Barnum-Bobb and Tommy O'Sullivan continue to inspire a revival at Rodney Parade with a 2-2 draw at home to Northampton. Tommy was more tightly marked than in previous games and was unable to make as much of an impression but that's all part of the learning curve for him. Jazzi continues to play well there as a wing back in a 3-5-2 set-up. Whereas other overlapping full backs often struggle with the defensive side of their game, he seems to be coping well. He has said he's equally comfortable as a full back or a wing back which is a good quality to have.
Rhys Healey got his third start in a row for Dundee, and his second ninety minutes, as Dundee drew 1-1 at Inverness. Filip Kiss had to come off after 36 minutes for Haugesund today, before he'd even had time to get himself booked, while Lierse drew 0-0 with Antwerp on Friday. If anyone can score in a 0-0 draw then it's Etien Velikonja but even he couldn't manage it this time.
None of our players managed 90 minutes in the Championship this week. Adam le Fondre was benched for Wolves and Joe Lewis was unlucky to suffer the same fate for Fulham as Andy Lonergan returned from injury. Eoin Doyle played 62 minutes of Preston's 0-0 draw with Bolton and Tom Adeyemi was also subbed as Leeds lost to Blackburn. Tom will not be allowed to play against us on Tuesday as part of his loan agreement, he'll probably be hoping he won't be made to watch it either.
Ex-players Craig Conway and Ross McCormack scored for Blackburn and Fulham this week and Kevin MacDonald, who played eight games for us in 1991, will be caretaker manager for Aston Villa at Spurs tomorrow night but I'll dip into non-league football to finish this week.
While Jon Parkin and Danny Johnson scored in the National League it was Luke Coulson, in the National League South, who had the most eventful week. His good form this season has led to a trial at Crewe, which hopefully will see him playing League 1 football soon. He returned to Oxford City for yesterday's league game with Bishops Stortford. A 1-0 lead became 1-1 after 14 minutes as an Oxford player was red-carded after giving away a penalty. Oxford then went down to nine men on 48 minutes after another red card but not only did they hold out, they went 2-1 up and then Coulson himself popped up with a third to give the nine men a 3-1 win. An interesting game- remember them?
Late news: gary Medel was also a scorer this weekend. The Chilean scored the winner for Inter over Roma.
