Rhys Healey is off the mark as a Dundee player. Not quite as he would've expected but he'll take it, I'm sure. Having left DVP football behind him here to try and make his name in the Scottish Premier League, he found himself back playing at u-21 level again on Tuesday. No reflection on him but with only three sub appearances up there so far it was a chance to get some pitch time and to show what he can do. Rhys scored two goals in each of his last two games for City's DVP team, same again on Tuesday (a free kick and a penalty) as Dundee won for the first time this season, 3-1 the final score. Praise from manager Paul Hartley for the performance, hopefully it will lead to more pitch time in the first team for Rhys.
Disappointment elsewhere. Kadeem Harris played 81 minutes in another dominant display by Barnsley but yet again the result went against them as they lost 2-1 to bottom club Crewe. A man of the match display by Ben Nugent in Crewe's defence. A local paper, The Stoke Sentinel, said of Nugent's performance - 'Sadly none of his trademark Cruyff turns this week but an excellent defensive display'. The mind boggles.
Deji Oshilaja is still injured at Gillingham, David Tutonda didn't make the York squad and Semi Ajayi had to come off early after a bang on the head for AFC Wimbledon. Another defeat for Lierse, 2-1 away. If you can't guess who scored the Lierse goal I'll give you a clue - his name is an anagram of Etien Velijonka.
As it's a quiet week there's a chance to catch up with former City players who are now league managers. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's (pictured) Burton are 2nd in League 1, Rob Page's Port Vale are 11th, Dean Saunders' Chesterfield, 16th and Neil Harris' Millwall, 17th. In League 2, Gareth Ainsworth's Wycombe are 6th, Neal Ardley's AFC Wimbledon, 14th and Ronnie Moore's Hartlepool, 17th. Ainsworth and Ardley are now the 9th and 11th longest serving league managers respectively.
Ardley's advice to Josh Magennis that he should give up goalkeeping and play as a striker instead has certainly paid dividends for Josh. Never more so than this week as he scored a crucial goal for Northern Ireland to help them qualify for Euro 2016. Bad news for John Brayford though as he suffered a reaction in his first game back (for Sheffield United's u-21 side) after a long lay-off with a knee injury. The club are hopeful it's not serious but following on from Kevin McNaughton's hamstring pull and KTC's broken metatarsal it seems there may be a curse on our former right backs. Chris Gunter beware.
