It must seem boring and predictable to start each week with the same player but what am I meant to do? Don't shoot the messenger, I have to put things in some kind of order and if one man stands head and shoulders above the rest then it's my duty to report it. Quite frankly, if the other lads want to make the first paragraph then they need to up their game. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that without Etien Velikonja, Loan Watch would just be a thread on a message board. A 57th minute goal for him today as Lierse won 4-1 at Eupen.
A good day for Kadeem Harris yesterday as Barnsley put recent defeats behind them to beat Swindon 4-1. Kadeem set up the first goal and got a great reception from the home fans when he was subbed late on. Worth noting that he is wearing the number 27 shirt this season, following the example of David Tutonda who wore it at Newport last season and at York this. Tutonda started at Stevenage in a 2-2 draw yesterday but was subbed in the second half, as was Tom Adeyemi as Leeds drew 1-1 with Brentford.
Nouha Dicko's serious knee injury at Wolves should mean more pitch time for Adam le Fondre but it was a frustrating 90 minutes for him yesterday as Bolton ran out 2-1 winners, despite him winning a penalty. Our two other strikers started on the bench but while Rhys Healey didn't get on for Dundee, Eoin Doyle got a run out and helped Preston to turn in a much improved second half performance even though they still lost 2-1 to Derby.
Filip Kiss followed his assist in a 3-1 win for Haugesund last time out with a yellow card in a 5-0 defeat on Friday. Joe Lewis was on the bench for Fulham today while Deji Oshilaja missed Gillingham's win with an injury.
Plenty of goals for our former players this weekend including Matt Green, Paul Quinn, Danny Johnson, Ross McCormack, Guido Burgstaller and Steve MacLean, who got a hat-trick for St Johnstone. 6 goals in 4 games for him now. MacLean signed for City in 2007 but only stayed for half a season as form and fitness eluded him and he was overshadowed by legendary figures such as Robbie Fowler, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Warren Feeney.
A special mention for Andreas Cornelius who got his first goal after a serious injury for Copenhagen today in a 4-2 win.
