All too predictably, the tv cameras were at Old Trafford on Tuesday for some European nonsense rather than at Bootham Crescent for the game that all self-respecting football fans wanted to see, the Y derby. Only twice before in the history of the Football League had two teams beginning with Y played each other and the third encounter lived up to all expectations as York beat Yeovil 1-0 in front of a crowd of 2,849. David Tutonda played the 90 minutes in that game and in the 0-0 draw at Exeter yesterday. York have fielded a largely unchanged team so far this season and the manager is looking to rest some players for Tuesday's cup tie at Swansea but I'm sure that's one game David won't want to miss.
Early days but Deji Oshilaja looks like he could become the first man to win the coveted Loan Watch Young Player of the Season award twice in a row as Gillingham moved to the top of League One with wins against Bradford and Wigan. Tom Adeyemi played for Leeds in both of their draws this week and Adam le Fondre played the second half as Wolves lost to QPR on Wednesday.
It's a warm welcome back to Loan Watch for Filip Kiss. He has gone to a strange, remote outpost, barely touched by modern civilisation, for the past two seasons but has now switched from Scotland to Norway as he joins up with former City assistant coach Mark Dempsey at Haugesund. A 4-2 defeat to start with as Kiss tries to play his way back into the Slovakia squad that looks likely to qualify for Euro 2016.
Kadeem Harris got 30 minutes as a sub for Barnsley in their 0-0 draw with Bradford yesterday. He'll be there for three months and will hope this loan spell is as successful as his one at Brentford a couple of years ago, without the hamstring injury at the end of it though.
Of our former players, two emphatic finishes by a slightly scary Jo Inge Berget gave Malmo a good chance of progressing in their Champions League qualifier against Celtic while there were also goals for Guido Burgstaller, as Nurnberg lost 2-1, and Luke Coulson, as Oxford City lost by the same score. Mats Moller Daehli and Andreas Cornelius continued their comebacks from injury with substitute appearances.
