The Bluebirds have dominated their last two games against Ipswich and Crystal Palace with little reward, something which has only been tempered by the failure of the teams around them in the shake-up.
"You`ve got to keep going, you look at the table and there`s not a great deal of ground being lost which is a bonus for us," said Jones. "But it`s an opportunity missed, we missed the opportunity on Saturday and we missed it on Tuesday.
"And I just think I`d rather play rubbish and win the game, that`s the best way to do it sometimes.
"If you look at the table I don`t think anyone wants it at the moment, nobody seems to be able getting a handle of it. QPR lost (on Tuesday), Swansea dropped points, we dropped points, Forest dropped points and everybody dropped points on Saturday.
"It`s as if nobody wants to get a grip of it and force it home, maybe we should be doing that."
