"Let's not beat ourselves up over this, it's one defeat in the last seven home matches," Spencer told the South Wales Echo.
"We had a couple of chances during the first half but it was not to be. On another night it would have been a different story. Bristol set their stall out and all credit to them, they deserved the victory. The worse thing that can happen is everybody to start panicking, because if the fans do that, then it could have an affect on the players. We have 43 points from 21 games, which is more then two points a game and that will get us promoted - don't panic."
City will have to buck their idea's up pretty quickly. The next game is away at Colchester on Friday evening. A win will see the Bluebirds back into second spot, at least for overnight, before Bristol play on Saturday.
There is a gap of 4 points back to Oldham, we must ensure we extend that. A win last Saturday would have given us 5 points on Bristol City and 7 points on Oldham, now we have to win this weekend to save us from falling into a battle with Oldham and Crewe.
Spencer's words are very sensible and he is right in what he says. If only it was that simple. What he does not address though is why the team as a whole badly under performed on the big stage. City fans will need no reminding that when push came to shove last season we failed on the big occasion and we stayed in Division 2. The club cannot afford for that to happen this season.
Prior ended his interview with an appeal to the fans to keep supporting the team.
"We had more than 15,000 for the fixture, and it would be nice to have that every week, instead of the 11s and 12s. It's time that every supporter gets behind the club now, then we will see who the real fans are. Let's get 15,000 at the next home game and then we will know that they are right behind this team. If they stay away, fine, but the supporters do not realise how important they can be in our promotion drive."
It works both ways Spencer, the crowds want to see committment from the players as well. Saturdays result has been waiting to happen. Now lets hope to see a shake up and some strong words and actions from Lennie to spice up the team and the attitude. Nothing less that 100% effort will be accepted on Friday night.
