Leon Jeanne's Cardiff City career, and maybe even his footballing career, has come to an end.
On Tuesday this week newspaper reports claimed Leon had failed a drugs test. On Wednesday the player was quoted protesting his innocence. On Thursday it was revealed he would lose his job anyway. No matter what outcome of the drugs investigation.
Pub and mesageboard gossip focussed on why Cardiff City would sack Leon before the outcome of his first test result was known. Even though the failure to provide a second sample was enough for a guilty verdit the fans were still hopefull it was all a big mistake.
The press release issued by Cardiff City on Friday night makes astonishing reading.
Jeanne's first sample was suspect, his reasons for not providing a second sample have been disproved.
Now the young player has his life to sort out, not just his football. The apparent tissue of lies does Leon no favours and he can now expect a lengthy ban from the FAW.
Good luck Leon Jeanne, we will remember you for what you may have done for our football club.
