Leeds won't let it lie

Moreso Grayson is unhappy with the way the matter was dealt with by the FAW. The incident did not draw a free kick during thew game and the officials were happy to let the game flow. Trial by media though and extra attention from Sky kept the issue in the spotlight resulting in the matter being referred to the FAW. They dismissed any suggestion of retrospective action.

The Yorkshire Evening Post report

The Elland Road boss has already discussed the matter with David Allinson, the National Group Manager of the Professional Game Match
Officials Board and the man responsible for appointing referees for individual Football League fixtures, but he is reluctant to let the issue lie.

Grayson said: "I've spoken to David and he had his opinion on it. I've asked our secretary to find out more about why this has happened.

"I don't want to bleat about it because it wasn't going to make any difference to us if Jay got suspended after the event. He's not a dirty player and the tackle was mistimed, but it was reckless and I want some consistency. A while back, we had Jermaine Beckford punished with a three-match ban on the basis of TV evidence.

"There needs to be consistency among the panels who make these decisions and in this instance I think they got it wrong.

"The TV pictures show (Snodgrass' obscuring Oliver's view) so the statement saying the referee saw it is very surprising."

Dave Jones admits it was a bad challenge but now we move on and Jay should learn from it

"If he had gone into that challenge with the intention to do some harm then I would be the first person to pull him to one side, but that is not what the player is about," said Jones.

"To be honest, I wasn't sure what incident they were referring to it because the referee didn't see it, his assistant didn't see it and however many thousands in the crowd didn't see it. There has been a lot made about challenges in the game at the moment which is why perhaps it has been highlighted. Yes, it was a bad challenge and we have to make sure he doesn't do it again."
