Cardiff City forward Lee Tomlin and Accrington Stanley striker Billy Kee have been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent, reports the Daily Mail.
The Crown Prosecution Service East Midlands authorised the charge following an incident outside a Leicester nightclub in January.
The alleged offence occurred in the early hours of January 22, the day after Tomlin, 28, had played for former club Bristol City in a 1-0 defeat away to Nottingham Forest and Kee, 26, featured in Accrington’s 1-1 draw at home to Carlisle.
Cardiff City have today said:
"Cardiff City FC is aware of the charges that have been brought against Lee Tomlin, dating back to January this year.
"The Club will be making no further comment relating to this at this time.
"Lee will continue as part of the first team squad and, as such, has travelled for this afternoon's game with Wolverhampton Wanderers."
