If no contract is signed he could start talking to clubs in January in preparation for a free transfer next summer.
There have been protracted negotiations with both Joe's side and the club's claiming deals were on the table, no deals etc etc but if it means today he signs then well done.
City have started the season in superb form and strengthening the squad is essential, not seeing players leave (as was the concern that by end of play Monday Joe would be gone.)
