"Joe didn't expect every single Cardiff fan to wish him well but some of the stuff that's been said is way below the belt." Someone close to Joe told The Echo.
"He has given Cardiff great service over six seasons and thought he would have got a bit more respect from some of these people.
"Instead he's hurt and stunned by some of the false accusations and general abuse flying around, and so are his family. Who wouldn't be?"
The reaction from supporters via the messageboard has been mixed with some upset that he's "looking after himself" and not giving a hoot for Cardiff City, some concerned that he maybe making a career faux pas by going to Scotland rather than the English Premier League and plenty who genuinely wish the boy well.
