Lawrence on his situation at Ninian Park

"There are aspects of a football manager's job that are unpleasant. You will get times where it's difficult.

"You either work through it or you do what (Joe) Kinnear (who quit Forest on Thursday) has done and pack it in.

"You do what you think is right for yourself and for the club. Our current situation is not pleasant.

"Unless a manager is extremely fortunate, he is going to experience spells like the one we're going through at the moment.

"It's important a manager has the support inside the club - and I've got that.

"I still enjoy the job. I've never thought, 'I don't need this hassle any more.

"I've just come back from a training session with the players and, for me, training is as enjoyable as always."

"People are entitled to their opinions. The fans are entitled to say what they want. We're in an era where there are millions of outlets for a fan to express his or her opinion - radio, TV, newspapers, text messages."

"There are times when the job is difficult, but there are times when it's fantastic.

"I will always remember walking around the Millennium Stadium after we had won the play-off final last year and people were saying we had made a whole nation happy.

"I also remember people telling me that I was the best manager Cardiff have had in 35 years.

"When you have spells like the one we're having, people are going to say the opposite.

"You have to be able to come to terms with that. I'm fortunate to have excellent staff with me. We don't sit in a cocoon thinking we can't be wrong.

"We look at the situation and see what can be done. We discuss things and see if anything can be changed."
