A clause was put in his contract that stopped him from playing for Jamaica for fear of losing him for weeks at a time when Cardiff City were playing.
Common sense has prevailed and now Langley will be allowed to play for Jamaica when their fixtures clash with the European internationals that see upto 7 other City players leaving to represent their countries. This weekend Jamaica play Brazil at the Walkers Stadium in Leicester and Langley is in the squad for that match.
It is hoped that Richard can be available for Jamaica's world cup qualifiers but if the matches clash with Cardiff City fixtures then the club will insists he stays at home. He will not be allowed to travel to the other side of the world when the home nations are not playing.
Lennie Lawrence said
"Richard is delighted he can now resume his international career. But we have safeguards to ensure Cardiff do not miss out"
Tony Vidmar is in a similar position, he plays for Australia who now arrange their international matches around the European calender.
Langely becomes the 7th City player on international duty this weekend following James Collins, Earnie, Daniel Gabbidon, Rhys Weston, Graham Kavanagh and Neil Alexander. Alan Lee (injured) and Tony Vidmar make it 9 current internatioanls in the City team.
Excellent news for Richard Langley, good luck when the Reggae Boyz take on the World Champions this Sunday.
