"He is one of the best strikers Liverpool have ever had," he told www.liverpoolfc.tv. "You could see in every training session and every game you played with him that he was still one of the best finishers in the world.
"You can learn from every player, but especially Robbie. As a striker, you only have to watch him to learn.
"I only played one year with Robbie but I saw he was a really good player, but also a good human. I learned a lot from him in that year, not only on the pitch but also off it.
"He was a wonderful person. He always tried to stay normal, never a celebrity, and was one of those people who'd really try to help you when you first arrived at the club. He was a typical Liverpudlian like Stevie and Carra.
"Of course I'm not wishing him luck for Wednesday night," he added. "I think maybe he'll want Liverpool to win anyway!"
Meanwhile City defender Glenn Loovens had some words to say about Kuyt.
"I haven't seen him since we both left Feyenoord so it'll be good to have a catch up, once I take him out of my pocket!
"We used to get on very well. He's such a strong guy but it is his work-rate that really stands out. I'm not surprised Dirk has settled in so well at Liverpool.
"He doesn't just score goals but works for the team, harder than most of his team-mates. He has a huge set of lungs.
"And it's the battling qualities that the fans love.
"But I hope my experience of playing against him during training will stand me in good stead."
