Brown believes that City are asking too much for unsettled striker Ross McCormack.
The last two weeks have become a right old saga with McCormack embroiled in a war of wwords between the player, his agent, Cardiff City and now Hull City. McCormack has said he'd like to leave for first team football, said he's happy to stay, said he's unhappy. Each day seems to bring new comments.
Now Hull have made a firm bid. But Jones is having non of the dramatics from Brown and is insisting Hull put up or shut up.
"They put a bid on which they knew was nowhere near what we were going to accept," Jones told Sky Sports News.
"Phil's come out and said that we've signed a player for £100,000 and 12 months later we're asking for £4 or £5 million. That's because we've worked with him. He's just scored 23 goals, he's become a full international.
"It doesn't matter where he is or how much we paid for him, that's the valuation we've put on the boy. If Phil wants him he knows what he's got to do.
"It's no good bleating on about it. That's what the selling club value him at. That's what we expect. If you want him, that's what you've got to pay.
"We won't be bullied into it. We're just as big a club. We have our players, we have our prices, and if he wants him then come and pay it.
"If you can't pay it, then go and look somewhere else."
McCormack is expected to be on the bench as City kick off the new season today against Scunthorpe Utd.
