Jones: Promotion will change lives

“Earning Premier League status is a life-changing experience for everybody, not only those at the football club'" said Jones ahead of Sunday's crucial Championship clash with Barnsley.

“Life will change for supporters, who have the opportunity to sample watching their team take on top teams at massive venues.”

“Our fans will be the most important people in our stadium tomorrow. They can make a massive difference.

“If the stadium starts to rock and roll it will become a cauldron of noise. From the players’ point of view it’s now about staying fit, staying strong and keeping your mind clear over the last 10 games.

“Everybody at Cardiff City must eat, sleep and drink football for the next 10 games.”

Meanwhile Barnsley boss Mark Robins is aware of his sides poor form on the road but looks back at last season when Barnsley pulled off a shock win at the CCS.

“Our away form hasn’t been the best this season; it’s frustrating when you don’t know what you’re going to get every game,” admitted Robins.

“We’ve been a mid-table side this season, but winning does breed confidence and we’ve had a good win over Scunthorpe on Tuesday night.

“We’re looking forward to playing Cardiff; it’s always a good place to go and we enjoyed a good performance at their place last year.

“It all depends on how we’re approaching the game and our mental state.

“It’s been difficult this season because we have been inconsistent, but there are still a lot of points to play for.

“We’ve got to see what we can come up with.

“It did us the world of good beating Scunthorpe, so hopefully now we can string together back-to-back wins.

“We don’t want to build everybody’s hopes up, but at the same time we don’t want to dash them.

“We’re going there to try to win this game.

“We always try to win and won’t be going there with any negativity.

“We’ve got a good young squad who are inconsistent, but we’re trying to build something special at the club - and that’s going to take time.”
