City lost that game despite dominating and it's a pattern becoming all too familiar.
"At the moment, we are making too many mistakes which is costing us points," said Jones.
"We are underachieving in results but not in performance. We've got to improve our home form, we've had one win.
For the first time Dave Jones has brought up the safety of his job. Tonight represents 46 games since Sam Hammam stepped down and City's form in that "season" has been close to relegation material. Failure for City to win tonight will mean we would have picked up less than the "mythical" 50 points needed to avoid relegation (based over the last 46 games).
"There's going to be lots of talk, and there's a very thin line at the moment.
"But if people think change is for the better whether it's the players, manager or hierarchy, they are kidding themselves because you've only got to look how far we've actually come and we're not that far away from getting to where we want.
"We've just got to make sure we get over that white line and make sure we get everything right."
"In this situation, a couple of wins on the trot puts you right back in the mix.
"Wolves will always be up there. We are the home side and want maximum points and we've got to go for it."
