But the Bluebirds boss said his players need to ensure they finish off teams after conceding leads in the last two home games against Watford and Preston.
"It's not a coincidence that it's happened on two or three occasions," he said.
"We're not rising to the occasion of producing the goods we are capable of."
He added: "The only way you get out of it, is keep working hard and making sure that you keep the back door shut."
Cardiff ended their run of three straight home defeats with the 2-2 draw against Preston, but are still searching for their first home league win since March.
Their away form has been the opposite being unbeaten in five outings.
Jones said: "Our home form is because of the respect teams are giving this football club and when they come here, they just shut up shop.
"What we've got to do is learn how to break that down and then keep a clean sheet at the other end.
"Unofrtunately, where we're getting done are the corners and the set-plays because first off, don't giving away silly corners away and secondly, defend them properly and we felt we haven't done that.
"We work on everything. It's when they get out there it's up to them to carry them on.
"We've stopped the rot against Preston.
"The ante has been raised at this football club and now every player has to rise to that occasion."
And after dropping points at Sheffield United on Tuesday and Barnsley four days earlier, Jones is keen to get back to winning ways.
"The performances at home haven't just equated to the results that we've been getting.
"Our performances away have been really good and we've been getting the results and what we have to do is marry everything up together.
"Sometimes that takes a little bit longer than people expect.
"It will all come together, it just has to be sooner rather than later.
"As a team, we're getting closer and closer to firing on all cylinders."
