"I'm looking for two more players to bolster the squad, and then we'll have two for every position," said Jones.
"Last season we didn't have the size of squad needed to maintain our challenge and we just weren't ready.
"It was important with the sale of Michael Chopra to get what we wanted and it enabled us to move in other ways. I look at the squad and we are stronger and we have more quality and are ready to mount a challenge this time around."
Saturday kicks off a busy week for City with Brighton visiting the Capital on Tuesday for a Carling Cup match before an away league game at QP.R. on the 18th.
