"We will have to wait and see what goes on, who comes in and if they keep the same staff," Jones told BBC Wales.
"They can't call him back until the date that it's up."
But Jones admitted he was surprised by Keane's exit but does not believe the Bluebirds would have to wait long to find out if they can hold on to Chopra.
"What normally happens is a manager comes in and wants to see all of the players at the football club," he said.
"The other thing is whoever goes in will know the players because they are well established and on television a lot.
"It's just whether they fit the criteria for the manager that goes there."
