Steven Smith and Daniel Kolar both played 90 mins. Smith at left back and Kolar upfront alongside Quincy.
"Both are technically sound and did well," said Jones. "It was well worthwhile seeing them over 90 minutes like this and we will assess them over the rest of the season."
The boss also wish Merthyr well in their fight to stay in business.
"It was a good workout and we were delighted to help Merthyr," said Jones.
"We hope their players are paid their lost wages from the money raised.
"That's partly why we took such a strong side to Merthyr."
Merthyr manager Garry Shephard was delighted with the effort made by Cardiff and it's fans. The total support at Penydarren Park numbered around 2,000 with loads coming up from cardiff.
"Dave Jones and his Bluebirds have given us a real chance to finish the season," said Shephard. "He brought a lot of first-team players to the match - and we are deeply grateful to them.
"It was an excellent workout for the Merthyr players, particularly after a gruelling match against Cambridge City the previous evening. Spectators from Cardiff and Merthyr turned out in force and that is such a help.
"It's been a fantastic evening for this football club - and everybody here, coaching staff, players and fans - will be cheering Cardiff City towards the Premier League. They've had a fantastic season so far and we wish them all the best."
