Don't forget City are also without Michael Chopra and during the game lost Olofinjana and Koumas.
City ended the match with Gavin Rae taking the plaudits for a devastating last half an hour where he followed in Olofinjana's footsteps by having a big say on play and getting the crucial second goal that secired the points.
Jones said: "We are trying to get to the level where we have a squad of players to cover any injuries and that was our most enjoyable win of the season for that very reason. Missing three players was a blow but it was our best three points of the season so far.
"We now have top-quality loan signings and the other players here have had to step up to the mark and that is exactly what they are doing.
"We couldn't get to this level before because of finances but now we all hope we can take it one stage further.
"The whole club culture is changing and another near full house shows that everyone is playing their part including the fans.
"The injuries to Craig Bellamy and Jay Bothroyd are not long-term and they may even be back for Tuesday's visit to Leicester. We have picked up another couple of knocks and will be assessing everyone on Monday."
Manager Nigel Pearson was left to reflect on another poor showing on the road from his Hull side.
"It was another frustrating day as we seem to have a losing mentality in away games that needs to be addressed very quickly," he said.
"We are not giving ourselves a chance of winning games and it was a very soft victory for Cardiff.
"There were certain aspects of our game that improved, particularly with our two new central defenders, and for Anthony Gerrard to come to his own club and play so very well was a plus point.
"It's always a risk when one of your players plays against you but we should have defended Seyi Olofinjana's headed goal much better.
"This season we have been losing on the road mainly because we have come up against better sides but we are still playing with some sort of mental blockage which I must do everything I can to rectify.
"It's too easy to look for excuses in our away form but I can assure you that we are working hard to improve it and start winning games.
"Our points return for the season is poor and there is added pressure now on our home games, but the criticism is mine to take and in the home games coming up we must perform to our best ability."
