"Today was about the fans seeing the new players as well as the new stadium," insisted Jones. "I thought Anthony Gerrard looked very settled at the back, Paul Quinn did well, and David Marshall was outstanding in the first 20 minutes.
"It was great for them because you never want to lose.But, as important it was to put in a performance, the most important thing was the fitness levels.
"But I'm pleased for everybody. The atmosphere was great - and it will be better with a couple more thousand in here. This was for everyone associated with the football club who have waited for this for many years."

'This was only our second game. We went all the way to Australia to play a football match. Now we've come down to Cardiff.
'We seem to be on the road a lot. We are going to Wembley now and have two tough fixtures there over the weekend.
'That first leg looms large. In an ideal world, it is a bit early in our preparations but it is there, we have to take it on.
'I think there is enough evidence to show that we will hopefully be more than competitive. I don't think the team suffered through lack of fitness.
