Jerome is heading back from Miami and is due for a medical on Wednesday at St Andrews. With the rest of the deal agreed Cameron should then put pen to paper.
"This will not affect my football development too much because I am not jumping straight into the Premiership. I also realise that it is not going to be a walk in the park up there," he added. "I need to knuckle down and expand on my game.
"I know that I am going to have to prove my worth. Birmingham are a big club and they want to get back to the Premiership straight away, hopefully I will be able to help them do that.
"I owe Cardiff everything because they gave me my first chance and senior debut in the Football League,'' he said. "I will never forget that wherever I go in the country.
"And I'd like to think that part of the transfer money will be spent on other players coming into the club. I will keep with me the greatest memories of the club, but this is a strange business and like in any other business there is movement.
"But this is a good move for me and also a good business move for the club. You have to remember when I signed for Cardiff they got me for nothing."
