He wouldn't be drawn into a knee jerk reaction but said that the club would take a few days to reflect on what happens next.
"We are utterly disappointed," he commented. "We set our target of getting into the Premier League and the club won't apologise for having that ambition. We have had many highs but we have fallen at the final hurdle. The bottom line is we didn't perform.
"Everyone's future will come under scrutiny but it is too early to say [whether we will change the manager]. I spoke to Dave after the game and the conversation was raw and emotive. So we decided to leave it for a couple of days to reflect on the season."
Now a few days later there's been no further statement from the club.
