The right back was released by City at the end of last season and he had been in talks with Peterborough. Now though he has agreed a move to Notts County but it cannot be finalised until the clib takeover is complete.
Jenkins made his debut for the Magpies in a friendly last weekend and he told the Notts Evening Post his thoughts on Notts County
"I think the foundations are there," he said. "There is a good mix of experienced, older players and talented youngsters.
"There is a very good blend; there are some very good players at the club.
"But the one thing the squad is lacking is just a little depth.
"If the manager is allowed to bring in a couple more players, it could make a big difference.
"With a bit more cover, I believe there is enough quality at the club to be able to have a successful season."
Good luck to Steve Jenkins who becomes the latest player to sort himself out with a new club. Others include Leo FW (Doncaster), Andy Legg (Peterborough), Des Hamilton (Grimsby), 20 year old Simon Heall has moved to Merthyr while Fan Zhiyi played for Newport County last weekend.
