Injury concerns over Lee, Gabbidon and Collins

Striker Alan Lee has been withdrwn from the Irish squad after injuring a knee in training. Lee was not involved during the 1- 1 draw with Russia on the weekend and his hopes of taking part in tomorrows friendly with Turkey look to be dashed.

Former City loan striker Glenn Crowe has been called up to replace Lee.

There was talk earlier that Lee may still be able to feature but that looks unlikely with Crowe's call up.

The Daniel Gabbidon injury is ongoing. The more pessimistic amongst are strating to worry that lightening may have struck twice, it was less than 1 year ago that Gabbidon hurt his back and despite him nearly being ready for each upcoming game it took over 5 months before he played again.

The latest update is that he's unlikely to play for Wales on Wednesday but could be back for Cardiff's game against Gillingham on Saturday. A bruised foot sustained at Nottingham Forest the reason for his absence.

Gabbidon's replacement in the City line up, James Collins, was injured when playing for Wales U21's last Friday, he was withdrawn from the game but there is no word on his current situation.

With Scott Young and Spencer Prior carrying injury's, Scott's long term and Spencer picking up a slight groin injury in last week reserve team game then City will have to reshuffle at the back on Saturday if players are ready to play. Maybe Lennie will look to bring in a loan signing.

We should know more later in the week.
