Injuries mount, City are walking wounded

Firstly we have no player but if we'd lost him to the Premier League we'd have a few bob to go and buy someone else but to lose him through injury means no player, no cash and a headache for the manager who has other injury concerns as well.

Anthony Quinn and Steve McPhail also hurt themselves at Blackpool. Gyepes and McNaughton are both out, Ledley and Burke played despite being ill all week and in Joe's case captaining Wales in Montenegro as well.

City need more bodies. Two rookies were on the bench yesterday, Adam Matthews and Josh Magennis. Darcy Blake is not much older.

The squad is worringly thin after the first XI.

"Ross definitely won't play at Plymouth on Tuesday, we heard a ping," said manager Dave Jones.

"We're putting kids on and players who have been ill all week, it's hard.

"Joe looks absolutely drained. Chris Burke did really well considering I've not seen him for a week.

"He trained a bit [on Friday] and I had to throw him on [against Blackpool]."

Come on City, if we are seriously thinking of mounting a challenge this year we need strength in depth. Not a paper thin squad with no senior cover.
