ROB HULSE is on the verge of joining Cardiff City after the Bluebirds yesterday agreed a fee with Crewe Alexandra reputed to be around the £700,000 mark.
The 23-year-old striker is currently on holiday in France and the deal is subject to the player agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.
Negotiations with Hulse regarding personal terms are expected to take place next week when City manager Lennie Lawrence returns from his summer break.
Hulse struck 27 goals for Crewe last season to help the Railwaymen win promotion to the First Division.
His goalscoring exploits saw him win a place in the PFA Division Two Team of the Year along with Bluebirds goal machine Robert Earnshaw.
If the Crewe-born player does move to Ninian Park, he could form a mouthwatering partnership with Earnshaw who bagged 35 goals himself during the 2002-03 campaign.

Hulse move doubt.
The agent of want-away Crewe striker Rob Hulse has warned a move to First Division rivals Cardiff City is far from a done deal.
Alex yesterday agreed an undisclosed fee from the Bluebirds for Hulse, who was transfer listed after rejecting a contract extension. The 23-year-old was voted Crewe's player-of-the-year last season after finishing leading-scorer with 27 goals, and he played a major part as Alex gained promotion.
However, despite Gradi accepting a fee from Cardiff, Hulse's representative Steve Hughes believes a deal is by no means certain.
"Despite the interest from Cardiff, there is no guarantee Rob will be going there," he said.
"Four other First Division clubs are interested in him as well as two teams from the Premier League, so there is a long way to go before anything is concluded."
