He will face Cardiff City before returning to Manchester City after his loan spell.
Norwich would have liked to keep him and Huckerby would have liked to have stayed but the Canaries simply cannot afford him
"Darren's done exceptionally well in his time here," Norwich boss Nigel Worthing said. "He's an exciting player who gets supporters, managers and coaches on the edge of their seats, but we're governed by finances – simple as that. We have got to be realistic."
Huckerby himself was hoping a deal could be done to keep him at Carrow Road.
"I'm disappointed. It's gone well here and hopefully something might have been sorted out. It hasn't and I've just got to get on with it."
Norwich will be missing Peter Crouch, the 6'7 striker returned to Aston Villa last week after his loan spell.
To combat the loss of Crouch and soon Huckerby Norwich wil today sign Leon McKenzie for Peterborough United. McKenzie will not play against Cardiff tomorrow but will be eligable to make his debut against local rivals Ipswich on Dec 21st.
