The Dutch striker has an option with Cardiff City of a second season and he said after the cup final that "I have got an option for another year with Cardiff and I'm 99.9% sure I will take it."
It's unknown if the decision is the club's or the players. There is talk that Jimmy has the right to choose to stay but that's unconfirmed. Hasselbaink scored 9 goals in 40 starts in his year at City. In fairmess he's had a go but personally speaking I think we need to look ahead now and find new blood to lead the line at Ninian Park next season.
Jimmy's presence and high profile has been good this year but as a main striker in a side looking to push for promotion I just can't see Jimmy being able to contribute enough.
Dave Jones must also decide on the future of Robbie Fowler. Robbie just missed out on the FA Cup Final 16 after recovery from a hip injury that has seen him miss over half a season. Jones took a gamble on the two star strikers last summer, I think he'll be in trouble if he's relying on them again for next year.
Again this is just my opinion but I'd be happy to offer Fowler a pay as you play option but not commit him to a full time contract. There is animosity amongst the fans that he cost a small fortune for little return this season. If we are a club with ambition then that money would be better spent on younger, fitter, hungrier players.
