It stems back to last season when it appears City were prepared to take Jones on loan to help Leicester in their time of administration. Jones turned it down and now Sam is saying his chance has gone and City are not considering the player.
"We have no interest in Matthew Jones." Sam said
"I am very close to Leicester City, because of Dave Bassett, Alan Cork and Mickey Adams, and last year, when their club was in administration, they phoned and asked if we would take him on loan - and off their wage bill.
"It seemed a great idea and we invited Matthew down, but he said he wanted to stay and fight for his first-team place at Leicester.
"That's fine and we respected that decision, but I told his agent at the time that he will never, ever play for Cardiff City.
"Once a Welsh player says no, that's it. There is no second chance - even if he becomes the best player in the world. Of course, we wish him all the best, but we are not and will never be interested in signing him."
