'If we can keep going like this and attract spectators in these numbers it will have a massive impact on our budget,' Hammam told the Echo.
'The team were magnificent and the fans even better. They were awesome, they were unbelievable.
'Never mind 18,500, it seemed as though there were 100,000 fans there.
'The atmosphere was excellent, the noise incredible.
'Cardiff City's performance has to be the best for many years.
'People who have been at the club far longer than me have said that and it's certainly the best in six years since I came to Ninian Park.
'But we need the people who came last night to return. Time and again.
'Big things are happening in Cardiff and everybody can join in.'
Boss Dave Jones wants to see the fans return week in week out.
'If they don't come back after that I might as well pack it in.
'If we can get 18,500 fans on a Tuesday night then we want the same every home match.
'Our performance reminded me of Wolves when I was rebuilding at Molineux.
'We were able to take that on and go into the Premiership - that's exactly the aim in Cardiff.'
