Javi Guerra is due back from a loan spell in Malaga soon and Russell Slade thinks he'll probably be heading back out to Spain.
Guerra, 33, has been a City flop and did little in his loan in Spain either.
He had an impressive record at former club Real Valladolid where he scored 72 goals in 149 appearances but between Cardiff and Malaga he's failed to impress.
Slade admits it would be best if he could find a club in Spain.
"If we're all honest about the situation, Javier would love to get a club in Spain," said Slade.
"But if that's not to be then we'll have a look again when he comes over and it may be a similar situation where there's a loan somewhere else again."
The former Alaves and Levante player did not score in his three Championship substitute appearances and two League Cup starts for Cardiff in 2014-15.
Agent Pepe Mesas said Guerra would rejoin Cardiff at the end of his loan spell at Malaga, but added that no decision had been made over the player's future.
