It's now sixty seven days since we last conceded a goal at home. Brynjar Gunnarson's 50th minute equaliser in the 2-2 draw with Reading on 25/11/08 was 580 minutes of playing time ago at Ninian Park. Thing is though, there are all sorts of impressive statistics you can come up with at the moment because we currently have a team that I now believe is playing as well as anyone in this division at the moment.
That said, today's win was more of the ground out variety than the quality stuff seen at Coventry. This was City's third match in six days and it showed at times as a confident Forest side won more than their fair share of second balls and provided stern resistance. This was another of those matches that I don't think we would have won last season but two moments of the sort of quality that Forest, for all their application, couldn't match did the trick for us.
It's easy to get a bit blase as we keep on churning out the wins but it needs to be remembered that we were playing a team that had not lost in ten away matches today - sides keep on putting together these very impressive runs and we keep on ending them!
Actually, I saw City bang in five unanswered goals today as I watched the Academy team beat MK Dons 3-0 before the Forest game - Mason, Meades (direct from a corner) and March got the goals but the stand out player for me was the all action Ibby Farah. Next up for the kids is a game with Birmingham on Thursday when a place in the last eight in the FA Youth Cup - it's not just the first team that are prospering in these great times to be a City fan!
