"That to me is what I wanted to hear for weeks. I'm delighted and relieved to be perfectly honest," Legg told the Echo
"Until I see him and sit down with him I won't believe it, but its good news.
"I still have to have radiography every day for six weeks and probably wear some kind of mask that treats and protects part of my face. But that's okay.
"I'm very positive about the whole thing and its got to be good news."
Legg had major surgery to remove cancer from his neck and there was a fear the disease had spread. The news on Wednesday though is great for Andy and his family.
It's also been announced that Cardiff City will host a benefit game for Andy Legg.
The match will be at Ninian Park and Legg is delighted.
"Sam Hammam has been superb about granting me a match. And the Professional Footballers Association say that its okay because I'm retiring from football.
"There's only one place where I would have wanted this game and that's Ninian Park. I'm looking forward to it already, it will be a special night where I can thank the fans properly for all their support."
"Andy is a popular guy who has had difficult times," said Hammam.
"I would love him to have a special night in Cardiff and I believe both Andy and Bluebirds fans would enjoy that.
