Goals galore in opening pre season friendlies

The first team have played twice this week and bagged 17 goals.

Cardiff City started their pre season campaign with a game at Taff's Well last Friday. A development side won 3 - 0 with goals from  Rhys Healey (2) and one from triallist Scott McLean.

The Bluebirds then headed off the the Souh West for a tour of Devon and Cornwall.

The first match on tour was an U23 Development match against Truro City on Sunday. Senior players Lee Camp, Anthony Pilkington and Lee Tomlin sarted the game and Pilkington gave City the lead in a match they went on to win 2 - 0. The second goal was scored by Paul McKay.

Monday saw the introduction of the senior players for a first team match against Tavistock AFC. City scored seven here last summer and almost matched that feat this time after running out 6 - 0 winners.

Goals from Junior Hoilett, Joe Ralls, Gary Madine (2), Bobby Reid and Jamie Ward (back in action after missing so much of last season) sa City home with some ease.

Tuesday night and the U23 Development side were back in action. Despite going two goals down against St Austell the lads rallied and came back to win 4 - 2. Rhys HHealey (2), Will Tinsley and Jamie Veale with the goals.

Wednesday night was goals night, and lots of them. The first team were rampant at Bodmin recording an 11 - 1 victory.

Goals from Bobby Reid, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Kadeem Harris (3), Josh Murphy, pictured (2), Danny Ward (3) and Gary Madine saw the Bluebirds hoe at a canter. City had scored the first 10 goals affter just 59 minutes.

The U23 squad tried to match the first team when the played Porthleven on Thursday. The lads won 9 - 1 thanks to an amazing first half from Rhys Healey who scored five times before the break.

A trialist scored the 6th, Jacob Evan and James Waite added to the tally before Jamie Veale completed the scoring.

So after a Cardiff City XI won 3 - 0 at Taffs Well the first team scored 17 goals in two games and the U23's scored 15 in their three games so far.

Next up the first team are in action at Torquay on Friday night.
