Gabbidon told the Echo
"I was able to do some light training with Wales and I'll be joining in with the first team at Cardiff City within the next day or so.
"The bone is bruised, my heel is still sore and it's taken time to settle down, but it isn't serious. The problem is that the bruising is in an awkward place and difficult to treat.
"All I can do is wait for the bruising to heal. I'm hopeful that won't be too long.
"This Saturday's match is out and I can't see myself being involved at Reading next Tuesday."
Gabbidon hurt his foot at Nottingham Forest and has been out since. James Collins has replaced him and done a fine job. Collins will continue in central defence for the game on Saturday.
