"If he's ready he'll play and if he's not he won't," said boss Dave Jones.
"He's behind in the training programme and that is a problem we knew before he came. You can be tempted to play players half-fit and that can put them out for longer, so we'll assess him and see how he feels.
"We don't want to rush him and we'll play him when he is ready to, otherwise the fans don't see the best of him and the team won't get the best out of him."
If Robbie fails to make it then City are expected to play Steve MacClean and Warren Feeney as the strike partnership. Jason Byrne and Matt Green have been involved in several pre season friendlies and can probably hope for the bench at best.
In midfield with Riccy Scimeca injured Gavin rae and Steve McPhail will partner each other.
It seems likely that Ross Turnbull will be in goal, a back four of Capaldi, Johnson, Loovens and McNaughton. Midfield is interesting. Sinclair, Rae and McPhail for sure but will it be Ledley or Whittingham for the wide left role. Up front as mention MacClean and Feeney.
