Fans from all League clubs were asked to vote for the best player in the Football League and Peter Whittingham came out on top.
Supporters were asked to vote for any player playing for a club other than their own.
"It's brilliant to be even be considered one of the top players when you see what a good league the Championship is nowadays," said Whittingham.
"Premier League players don't mind dropping down to play at this level, which shows in the quality of the football, where teams are trying to pass the ball.
"When you see Norwich and Swansea going up and holding their own that reflects well on our division too.
"It's nice to know the fans appreciate what I'm doing, although there are areas I still need to improve on.
"I talk to Malky Mackay all the time about that and there's more to come from my game."
