Watford's two Easter matches are on Good Friday and against Cardiff on Easter Monday. With Cardff playing on Saturday Malky Mackay has expressed his disappointment that Watford get an extra 24 hours recovery time.
“The fact is that other teams are going to get extra rest over us going into the game on Monday. I find it a bit bizarre,” said Mackay.
“With two games in such a short space of time for some teams to get the extra day’s recovery is just a bizarre decision.
“But it seems the way things have gone in terms of kick-off times and for Watford to get the extra 24 hours rest is truly bizarre.
“It’s about recovery. It happens, we have to deal with it, but I don’t know why we have to deal with it. During these holiday times, if it’s not a television game we should be playing at the same time.
“We’ve got two tough games and we’ve got to make sure we come out of them in as positive a frame of mind as we can.”
It's a crucial time for Cardiff with Saturday's opponents two points ahead of the Bluebirds. Defeat to Middlesbrough would start to see another play off place slip out of reach.
In fact if Brighton and Blackpool were to both win away on Friday, Cardiff's trip to Middlesbrough would become a must win game.
I hope at 5pm on Monday we are still in the middle of a play off challenge.
