After sacking Ian Butterworth, the Bluebirds are set to appoint Watford coach Burton in his place in the hope he will contrast against the methodical Lawrence and put a rocket up the players from the touchline.
Burton spent 14 years at Wimbledon and Beasant was just one of the men who passed under him, but the pair have also worked together more recently at Watford.
And the former Wimbledon stopper, still playing with Premiership Fulham, but also now coaching the Northern Ireland national team, believes Burton has the spark City are looking for.
"Terry is definitely that sort of guy," said Beasant.
"He knows what he wants and he is vocal and will let the players know if they are not doing it for him.
