Hibernian frontman Derek Riordan and his agent will now be discussing terms for a transfer to the Bluebirds from the Edinburgh club.
The deal is understood to be worth around £1 million. This seems to me to be in stark contrast to the serious financial problems that City have had over the last few months, where we have had to sell players to pay the players wages.
Hibs manager Tony Mowbray said: "We all recognise that Derek is a talented player and we have made extensive efforts over a long period of time to agree a contract extension.
"Unfortunately, Derek has made it clear that he sees his future elsewhere.
"The move is not yet confirmed and is subject to Derek and his agent agreeing personal terms with Cardiff City."
