Deal reached over Ninian Park matchday trains

There will be a break of one hour after matches (Mon - Sat) where no trains will stop at the station as it cannot cope with the large numbers on small platforms. People can use Grangetown station to make their way home.

Services from Ninian Park will then resume after the one hour break.

Initially there was to be a three hour closure before and after matches but that has thankfully been revised.

The folowing statements are form the official Cardiff City website

Simon Turton, special events manager for Arriva Trains Wales, said: "We are pleased to have been able to review train service provision for fans following furthertalks with the Club. Post match, Grangetown station is better suited with more frequent services and wider platforms, which will provide fans with a more pleasant, faster and safer journey home."

Gethin Jenkins Chief Executive Cardiff City Football Club, said "We are pleased that a suitable balance has been reached regarding this service. As a Club we are always looking to improve the match day experience and this change will assist those supporters who travel to games by train."
